Jim Wiechers - Teaching Professional

Jim has been active in the world of golf all of his life. From his early days as an award-winning amateur golfer to his life today as one of California's top-ranked instructors, golf has been Jim's greatest passion and interest.

Going Professional: PGA, U.S. Open, and Masters

Between 1966 and 1979, Jim toured the country as part of the PGA tour. The tour took him to many of the nation's best courses, competing with some of golf's greatest players. Throughout the early '70s, Jim consistently ranked in the top-60 money winners on the tour.

In addition to the PGA tour, Jim also competed in five U.S. Opens and the 1976 Masters, as well as several regional competitions. 1973 and 1974 took him to Japan, where he competed in the exclusive Tahieyo Club Masters.

The 1990s saw Jim returning to his true love of golf. As head instructor at McCaffrey's Golf School in San Francisco, Jim conducted private and group lessons and special corporate clinics. But as demand increased for his instruction in Napa, Jim returned home to focus exclusively on local instruction. Today, Jim lives in Napa, working as a principal teaching professional at Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa. In 1992, he was selected as one of Northern California's top teaching professionals in a poll taken by the San Francisco Chronicle. In addition to private lessons, Jim also conducts clinics and client outings for Napa Valley's top wineries, including Robert Mondavi and Beringer.

Jim was recently appointed both men's and women's golf coach at Napa Valley College. Jim had been an assistant coach at the college since 1999, leading his team to win the 2002 state championship.

Jim is available for private instruction, group instruction, and corporate clinics. He looks forward to working with you to give you the control and skill you need to excel in the world of golf.
